Drove a few hours out of Colombo, in time to catch the sunset. The beach down Negombo way is not always the most swimmable, but the sunsets can make a particular alchemy with the ocean and sky. My friends had rented a place called, suitably, Beach Bungalow. It had an indoor pool, view of the beach and decent bathrooms, well beyond my usual haunts.
