JVP is unique political movement having its ups and downs since 1971 and it is the only party in the south that has paid its political price in thousands of lives of youth, in 1971 and 1988/89 respectively. While LTTE represented the misery of the misled youth of Tamils in the North, JVP has been playing the same role in the South.
